Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain language, what data is processed when you visit Vulkanen.org.

Summary

Google Analytics

Every page loads Google Analytics (measurement ID G-LQXM12QT6T), provided by Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC. It sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) and sends Google information such as the page you visit, the referring page, your browser and device type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and timestamps. We use these statistics only in aggregate, to understand which topics readers find useful. Google may process this data outside the European Economic Area under its own safeguards; see Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses data from sites that use its services.

You can block Google Analytics with a content blocker, by refusing third-party scripts in your browser, or with Google’s opt-out browser add-on. The site works fully without it.

Maps and other third parties

When you scroll to an interactive map, your browser downloads the Leaflet library from unpkg.com and map images from tile.openstreetmap.org. Like any web server, these services receive your IP address and browser details; they do not receive anything from us. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. Links to external sites (Smithsonian, USGS, observatories) are governed by those sites’ own policies.

No advertising, no data sales

Vulkanen.org shows no advertising and does not sell or share personal data. Hosting is provided by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver and secure the site.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to processing. Because we do not collect data that identifies you directly, most requests are best handled through Google’s tools or by blocking analytics as described above.
